CLEAR APPLICATION TAPE/ PAPER

TRANSFER TAPE is used to transfer VINYL LETTERING from the silicone release backing paper, prior to applying the VINYL GRAPHICS to the chosen substrate.This is also known as APPLICATION TAPE or CLEAR VINYL PRE-MASK and is one of the essentials in any SIGN MAKERS tool kit and it is important that the CLEAR APPLICATION TAPE is applied smoothly and wrinkle free over the CUT VINYL LETTERS once they have been weeded out, the best method is usually to employ the services of the NEW BLUE PRO SQUEEGEE which has a hard plastic edge and a FELT SQUEEGEE edge, to avoid excessive scratching, whilst still being able to apply sufficient downward pressure to the PRE CUT VINYL GRAPHICS and LETTERING.

CLEAR PLASTIC TRANSFER TAPE or VINYL APPLICATION PAPER?

SIGN VINYL can be pre-masked with either tape or paper, but which one to choose? It really is a personal preference, but it is worth noting that should the graphics have to be seen, in detail, then the TRANSPARENT TRANSFER TAPE is the better choice, it is also worth mentioning that the CLEAR APPLICATION TAPE is a lot less flexible than the PAPER TRANSFER TAPE, so a longer run of cut lettering, like BANNER VINYL SIGNS or LARGE VINYL WALL ART graphics will benefit from the use of CLEAR PLASTIC APPLICATION TAPE, also having the added advantage of the customer will be able to view the WALL ART VINYL GRAPHIC prior to applying it to the wall.However, the single biggest advantage that the VINYL SIGN MAKING fraternity find using the TRANSPARENT APPLICATION TAPE does NOT absorb dampness from the atmosphere, so should the graphics be stored on a shelf in an unheated builders merchants or warehouse, or during transport of the VINYL DECALS on a carrier, then the APPLICATION TAPE FOR VINYL STICKERS will still release well from the backing paper as the dampness has not ingressed through the face of the graphics.

WHICH VINYL TRANSFER APPLICATION TAPE ? . . . PT1 !

PT1 CLEAR VINYL APPLICATION TAPE is highly recommended, as it has been rigorously tried and tested for over 30 years by THE VINYL CORPORATION ! the knowledge that a lot of lower grade, cheaper APPLICATION TAPES can attract static charge, this mainly occurs in very dry, hot, arid conditions this is a serious problem for the VINYL SIGN MAKER as contamination and particles of dust and dirt can really hinder the production of SIGNS, also should the CLEAR MASKING TAPE if statically charged can “JUMP” to meet the VINYL DECAL that is being covered and therefore not be correctly aligned whilst being hovered over the GRAPHIC.So PT1 has been formulated so as not to allow static build up on the PRE-MASKING TAPE.

TOP TIP FOR SIGN MAKERS

Should static charge build up in your SIGN workshop and start effecting your production, the solution is to get a cap full of FABRIC CONDITIONER and dilute it with water in your small SPRAY BOTTLE and liberally spray it on the carpet, or non slip flooring in the workshop, this will eliminate static electricity and also make your workshop smell “Lovely” Win, Win!
